If you want a link from a high ranked site and you can’t get it any other way, offer a reciprocal link. This is best done with sites that have a page rank of 6 or better. Do NOT pay for these links! They don’t help your site. You need links with high page ranks to do you any good.One site offered 500 incoming links from high Google PR directories. The reality? More than 400 links came from ONE DIRECTORY, 400 different pages, no Google PR. Google put our site on the back burner for three weeks while they sorted it out. Don’t let this happen to you.You will also find sites that will offer 3 way links for a stiff monthly fee. They tell you that their links are all one way incoming links with a high page rank. Don’t believe it! Out of 200 or so links, you will find that the vast majority of these links don’t even have a page rank assigned by Google. You will probably end up with four or five PR0, maybe five PR1, three PR2, two PR3, and if you’re lucky, one PR4 or 5. These 3 way links are NOT one way incoming links. Nearly all of them have links back from you. Some have a NOFOLLOW meta tag on their link to you. There is another danger. These links will mess up your keywords, and destroy your keyword density. You will find your site coming up for keywords in the search engines that are entirely unrelated to your business. The search engines are taking the keywords from your 3 way links, and ignoring yours. Let me give you an example: Our site promotes tested and proven money making programs. These are some of the keywords that had our site on Page 1 of Google in the past: “rifle scope shop in Singapore”, “golden eagle sr22” (That’s an airplane), “welsh washing machine used parts”. That could be funny, but not when you’re paying a stiff monthly fee for it. We got rid of those 3 way links in a hurry, but then it took a couple of months before the search engines caught up. DON’T DO IT! It will take a lot of hard work, but you need to contact the sites you want links from individually.
